🎯 Purpose of Education

I believe that there are 3 primary and common goals that school education should serve for all:

• Self care and survival

  This generally means that the educated should:

  • Learn rational thought & autonomy

  • Understand how to ensure their own health and well-being

  • Develop skills required for economic participation

• Societal fit and model citizenship

  This generally means that the educated should:

  • Participate in the democratic process in its true spirit

  • Uphold and spread our constitutional values

  • Act in a manner which benefits those around them, and thus the country

• Purpose and understanding of life

  This means that the educated should be:

  • Equipped to access the world and what is has to offer

  • Capable of determining and following their purpose

  • Able to pursue a fulfilling life

📚 Proposed Curriculum

I'm obviously no expert in education or teaching. I'm interested in the space, but far from an expert. So, I'm not in a position to propose a curriculum that should be followed in all schools or anything of that sort. But I shall attempt to propose a schooling curriculum which I think is interesting and fun for the whole family (students, parents, teachers and just the generally curious).

Who will actually find this useful? Who is my target audience? And how will they use all of this? I don't really know right now. But this seems like a cool thing to put together, so I'm doing it.

Pre-requisites:

• English fluency (ability to read books independently)
• Curiosity (interest in learning beyond the basic school curriculum)
• Supported learning - Children too young to read and learn independently will likely need guidance and support

Please note that I am neither a teacher nor a parent yet, and might be getting a lot of this wrong.
